PORTRAITS I love doing portraits. I particularly love the challenge of capturing the character, personality and emotion of the person in my portraiture. Title: “Madiba” Size: 40 x 40 cm Price: COMMISSION (Australia) Inspiration: I loved doing this special commission of Nelson Mandela. I wanted to capture so many of his special traits... his vision, empathy, humility, kindness, intellect, serenity, humour... ubuntu... and, of course, the brightly coloured shirts and big smile that lit up his face. Title: “Thandeka” Size: 25x28 cm Price: SOLD (South Africa) Inspiration: Thandeka is a happy and sweet little girl, who is a bit shy... and also just a little bit cheeky! I've tried to capture the light, and her beautiful, bubbly spirit and infectious smile, in her dark eyes by including the big horizon/sky reflection (and my silhouette) as she smiled up at me while I took the photograph. Title: “Caught Between Hope and Despair” Size: 35 x 35 cm Inspiration: Leo was critically sick with parvo and young Addibel Rupiya was distraught about the future of her beloved puppy – caught between hope for her recovery and despair for her likely loss. This mosaic won GOLD and BEST IN SHOW at the 2019 MASA "Between Hope and Despair' art competition.
